New York -- July 26, 2017 - Following the success of the inaugural TEFAF New York Fall in October 2016, TEFAF is now offering a ‘first look’ at some of the objects that will be showcased this Fall (see attachment). Focusing on fine and decorative arts and jewelry from antiquity through the early 20th century, TEFAF New York Fall will return to the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York City this year from October 28-November 1.
Last October, TEFAF New York Fall introduced North American audiences to an immersive fair experience at the Armory, through richly curated exhibitor presentations, dynamic programming and unique institutional collaborations. Each of these elements served to enhance the collector experience and brought together a global community of collectors, interior designers, museum curators and connoisseurs. TEFAF New York is recognized for going beyond the boundaries of a traditional art fair at the Park Avenue Armory.
The Armory will once again be transformed by Dutch designer Tom Postma, whose reimagination of the landmark Armory stunned fairgoers when it was unveiled last Autumn. Postma’s sleek and ethereal designs for TEFAF New York Fall provide a stunning backdrop for the extraordinary objects presented by each participating dealer.
At TEFAF New York, buyers can purchase strictly vetted works across a wide variety of collecting areas -- furniture, decorative arts, ceramics, glass, silver, textiles, tapestries, antiquities, jewelry, paintings, sculptures, books, manuscripts, arms and armour, and Asian art. The Fair offers something of interest and quality across a wide range of collecting fields.
“We are delighted to return to the Park Avenue Armory to build on the successful debuts of TEFAF New York Fall (October 2016) and TEFAF New York Spring (May 2017),” said Patrick van Maris, CEO of TEFAF. He continues, “We have been overwhelmed by the response TEFAF New York has received so far. Many collectors and museum representatives have called it a “gamechanger” and a welcome addition to the international art calendar. The United States is the largest art market in the world, and we are looking forward to cementing our presence in New York while continuing to showcase the very best the art world has to offer.”
“TEFAF is taking the lead to bring a fresh perspective to the world of historical art, and we are continuously refining TEFAF New York’s collector experience,” says Michael Plummer, Managing Director of TEFAF New York. “The recently unveiled Fall exhibitor list reflects exciting new additions and collecting areas which add greatly to the dynamic mix of the Fair. New programming highlights and other events are in the works for Fall 2017.”
