The non-profit residency LIA enjoys fruitful partnerships with international art institutions such as: The Christoph Merian Foundation, Basel and The New York Academy of Art, NYC. Together, alongside the programme’s main sponsor, BMW Plant Leipzig, our partners made it possible for over one hundred artists from thirty different countries to take part in the LIA programme since 2008. Artists from the USA, Australia, China, Ukraine and many more countries were included.

The programme is also supported by the Department for European and International Cooperation and the Department of Culture, Leipzig. This enables us to extend our hospitality to Ukrainian, Israeli and Ethiopian artists from our partner cities of Kiev, Herzliya and Addis Ababa. LIA is Leipzig’s official art residency programme, and Leipzig’s Lord Mayor, Burkhard Jung, is our patron.
