Artists from Geneva will also be well-represented in our June sale, with works by artists including Paul Bonifas, Emile Chambon and Sylvie Fleury. In keeping with our exploration of the decorative arts, we will present three very fine ceramics by Paul Bonifas (lot 66, Black ringed ceramic vase, estimate CHF 5,000 – 7,000; lot 67, Black ceramic bowl with handles, estimate CHF 6,000 – 8,000, illustrated here; and lot 68, Black ceramic double-vase, estimate CHF 4,000 – 6,000).

Fellow Geneva artist Emile Chambon is another Swiss artist whose work is becoming increasingly sought-after on the international auction market (his painting Les deux amies au chat recently sold for over CHF 40,500 at Sotheby’s London). In Zurich we will offer two very fine works, L’escalier, Boulevard de la Cluse 107, 1964 (lot 53, illustrated here, estimate CHF 20,000 – 30,000) and Antoine et Cléopâtre, 1960 (lot 54, estimate CHF 10,000 – 15,000).
v A monumental piece, Max Bill’s black granite sculpture Konstruktion aus einem Kreisring is an extremely rare piece and one not to be missed (lot 71, estimate CHF 200,000 – 300,000). This hugely versatile Swiss architect, artist and designer whose mentors at the Bahaus included Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee is a perfect embodiment of the spirit of Swiss Art / Swiss Made, transcending physical borders and embracing the creative potential of international collaboration.
