Melbourne Art Fair 2014
Presented by the Melbourne Art Foundation, a not for profit organisation, Melbourne Art Fair is one of Australasia’s most celebrated contemporary art events, showcasing outstanding work from the region's best galleries.
For 25 years the Fair has stimulated critical and commercial attention for galleries and their artists by presenting a rich and diverse cross-section of the region’s visual art scene and directly contributing to the livelihood of living artists.
In 2014, Melbourne Art Fair will deliver an inspiring program that shines a light on Melbourne’s thriving contemporary art scene. Highlights will include a citywide Collector Program, innovative satellite events and the introduction of new exhibition sectors that focus on cutting-edge, emerging and new media artists.
Central to the artistry and integrity of the Fair is Melbourne Art Week. It will feature seven days of exhibitions, free educational programming, satellite events and projects will complement the attractions of the Fair to make August the most dynamic month in the city’s visual arts calendar.
“As a long time participant of Melbourne Art Fair, I am thrilled to be working with the Foundation on the evolution of the Fair, building on its grand traditions and helping to add to the excitement it has always generated.”
Barry Keldoulis, Director, Melbourne Art Fair
The Fair is held within Carlton Gardens’ Royal Exhibition Building. One of the world's oldest exhibition pavilions, it symbolises the great international exhibition movement of the 19th century. With its meticulously restored and opulent interior, expansive galleries and soaring dome, the Great Hall is a magnificent setting for the Melbourne Art Fair.
