Art Greenwich Presents Collectable Works from the 20th and 21st Century

Greenwich, CT - April 27 – Following the success of Art Greenwich this past fall, art fair organizing firm, International Fine Art Expositions (IFAE), will host a new spring edition of Art Greenwich 2012. Once again taking place aboard the luxurious one-of-a-kind venue SeaFair, the luxurious 228-foot megayacht venue, will return to the Delamar Greenwich Harbor for a 5-day exhibition May 24th – 28th. Coinciding with the “Greenwich Town Party”, on Saturday, attendees will be able to enjoy the simulcast of the concert featuring Paul Simon, which will be broadcasted throughout the Indian Harbor.

The spring edition will feature over 25 international galleries exhibiting world renowned modern masters and contemporary artists in all media; including paintings, photography, sculpture, installations and video.

Collectors will be able to purchase rare works by 20th Century masters. Joan Miro, Francis Bacon, Marc Chagall and Henry Moore are among the collection of modern masters that will be on exhibit at Art Greenwich along with abstract expressionists Adolph Gottlieb, Helen Frankenthaler, Hans Hofmann and Fred Mitchell, American painter and printmaker Robert Motherwell, French painter and sculptor Jean Dubuffet, graffiti artists turned neo-expressionist painter, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Italian Sculptor Marino Marini, American artist Jasper Johns and sculptor Louise Nevelson. A special presentation of over 30 Rufino Tamayo rare etchings and Mixographia’s from the early 1950’s to his last editions completed in 1989 will be also be on exhibit by this Latin American master.

Participating galleries showing post-war contemporary masters include Antoine Helwaser Gallery (New York, NY), Contessa Gallery (Cleveland, OH) and Fine Art International (Naples, FL).

POP ART PROTAGONISTS

The exhibition will feature works by household names Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, Tom Wesselmann, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein and Jim Dine. Both original works and limited edition prints by these pop art icons will be available, including original Warhol sketches from the early 50’s during his days in advertising, brought by NAC Gallery (Fort Lauderdale, FL). Also among the galleries exhibiting pop artist include Antoine Helwaser Gallery and Contessa Gallery.

MAINSTREAM AND EMERGING TALENTS

The Fair will introduce an intriguing line up of established as well as emerging and mid-career artists.

Among the artists represented at the fair will be color field artist Natvar Bhavsar, abstract expressionist Jamy Kahn and conceptual artistJohn Baldessari. Sculptor William King and Lauren Constantini, Warner Friedman - known for his unconventional approach to land and seascape painting - and still life artist Janet Rickus will also be available as well as an exhibition from Brenda Taylor Gallery (New York, NY) of works on paper by Jiyoung Hong and Heather Wilcoxon.

FOCUS ON PHOTOGRAPHY

For photography enthusiasts works by famed Chuck Close, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sandy Skoglund, Andy Freeberg, David Drebin, Kiriko Shirobayashi and Cindy Sherman will be among the exhibited works.

Two solo photography exhibitions will be highlighted at the Fair. Y Gallery (New York, NY) presents selected works by Juanli Carrion who was nominated last year for ICP (International Center of Photography of NY) as best new photographer and was recently the recipient of Jovenes Creadores, the most important award in Spain for young artists.

NAC Gallery will present a solo exhibition of William John Kennedy. The collection includes complete works from the photographers early days with Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana. Vincent Harrison, NAC Gallery Director, will additional present a documentary film presentation, “Before They Were Famous: Behind the Lens of William John Kennedy” coinciding with the exhibit on Monday, May 28th at 1:30pm.

Aperture, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing photography via Aperture magazine, books, traveling exhibitions, and educational programs, will be participating as an exhibitor at the fair. The foundation will feature photographer Sara Palmer, a large-scale installation by Penelope Umbrico, recently featured in ArtForum and work by Martin Roemers.

A special exhibition of photo-realism brought by Anthony Brunelli Fine Art (Binghamton, NY) will compel attendees to “take a second look.” The persuading collection includes works by internationally acclaimed Jerry Ott, whose works can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution among other collections. Charles Hartley admired for his self-taught technique and use of light, has quickly caught the eye of collectors. Joined by cityscape artist Richard Heisler and Robert Fundis whose realist works oftenexplore the psychological and existential questions dealing with the human condition.

SeaFair will be docked at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor, 500 Steamboat Road, May 25th – 28th. A by-invitation-only Preview evening to honor the Greenwich Arts Council will take place May 24th. Fair hours will be Friday & Saturday 11am – 9 pm and Sunday & Monday 11 am – 7 pm. Tickets can be purchased on the website for an advance discounted ticket price.
