The most promising young artist at the exhibition will receive the Thieme Art Award. This prestigious prize, which is being sponsored for the seventh time by the Thieme Grafimedia Group, consists of the production of a full-colour catalogue and a solo presentation of the artist's work at the next Art Amsterdam. Last year's winner - the artist Žilvinas Landzbergas, who is represented by Gallery Fons Welters - will have a solo stand featuring his work at this year's exhibition.

Free daily tours

A tour is an excellent way of getting a good impression of the varied exhibits at Art Amsterdam. The Mondriaan Foundation is providing free tours of the exhibition from its Art Buying stand. Every visitor can report to the stand for a free guided tour of some of the highlights of the exhibition. This is given by an expert and lasts about an hour.

All the latest information can be found at www.artamsterdam.nl. Art Amsterdam 2009 will be held in the Parkhal (hall 8) of Amsterdam RAI from Wednesday 13 to Sunday 17 May. There will be a preview for the press and special guests on Wednesday afternoon, 13 May. The exhibition will be open to the public from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday 13 May, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday till Sunday 17 May and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday 15 May. Professional child care facilities will be available free of charge on Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May.

The admission charge is € 20 per person (€ 10 for holders of a student cultural pass or a senior citizen's pass). Admission is free for children under the age of 12, provided they are accompanied. The admission charge from 5 p.m. onwards is € 10, except on Wednesday 13 May.
