Le Panier de fraises

Musée du Louvre

From March 21 until May 30, 2024, the Louvre-Lens has the immense joy of welcoming The Basket of Strawberries by Jean Siméon Chardin (1699 – 1779), a national treasure just acquired by the Louvre Museum thanks to to an unprecedented collective momentum at the end of the “All patrons!” campaign. ".

“It is a great pleasure and a great pride to be able to share this exceptional work at the Louvre-Lens for its first exhibition to the public. With this strong gesture, the Louvre Museum recalls its exemplary commitment to sharing iconic works with everyone. The Basket of Strawberries will be presented in the heart of the Galerie du temps, alongside the masterpieces that inhabit it, including The Lacemaker by Vermeer. It will allow us to celebrate in a grandiose way this unique museum space in the world, before its major renewal next December. I am certain that visitors to the Louvre-Lens will welcome the Strawberry Basket as they should, with pleasure and delight, especially on Spring Day; before he continues his grand tour of France! »

Annabelle Ténèze, director of the Louvre-Lens.

A delicious program awaits museum visitors to celebrate the arrival of spring and this exceptional work!
