X Contemporary 2015
December 2, 2015, (Miami, FL) - X Contemporary celebrated its inaugural edition with a VIP Opening Night Preview and Vernissage on December 1, 2015 in Miami’s historic Wynwood Arts District. Guests explored the tented pavilion enjoying a first look at modern and contemporary work presented by 30 national and international exhibitors.
Kicking off with an exclusive party in the fair’s “Living Room” lounge, X Contemporary VIP enjoyed music by The Misshapes and Kissey, beverages served by Concrete Beach Brewery, Vita Coco, Aquafina and SoBe, as well as a give-away of limited edition MuyMuy hats, courtesy of À la Mexique, a fashion collaboration by SPƎNGLISH (ñ).
Exhibitors indicated high optimism for the week with numerous connections made and a number of sales confirmed with galleries. Pamela Willoughby reported the sale of Hush’s “Saint” piece, which sold for $100,000. BOSCAR, artist duo Vicky Steckel and Ward Stegerhoek, reported the sale of “Feminine Mystic 3”, a monumental C-Print on Plexiglass. In the Michael Klein LLC booth, Director Michael Klein was delighted with the response from fairgoers, receiving many offers to purchase works by Grace Hartigan from 1960-1965, which are on view but not for sale. The artist’s niece, Donna Seesee, was also in attendance. Nicole Longnecker Gallery received a similarly warm response to the artwork of Larry Bell.
X Contemporary is now open to the general public through Saturday December 6, with special programming and events scheduled throughout. The fair will culminate in an after hours celebration on Saturday, December 5th hosted in partnership with the Wynwood Arts Community. Visit http://x-contemporary.com/ for a full list of programming.
