Lammhults to launch three new collections and 'Space Matters'

Inspired by the materials seen during a visit to the Lammhults archives, Corso is comprised of a steel tubular frame with a canvas or leather seat. The easy chair functions as an elegant, relaxed design that is suitable for social and informal contexts. Linking with Lammhults’ design history in furniture making, the steel tube frame is a famous signature material for the Swedish furniture producer. The company first started creating designs using the material in 1955, with collections by the company’s founder, Edvin Ståhl (Stål – Ståhl being a direct translation of ‘steel’). Since then, iconic furnishings for Lammhults were also created using tubular steel in the 1960’s by designers Lindau & Lindekrantz. Corso by Peter Andersson takes inspiration from these bold, playful archival works, whilst bringing a contemporary spin on the use of material.

Andersson comments: “Corso functions as an elegant solitaire, as well as an expressive character in a social and informal context. It is something to settle down in with a book at the library, or to relax into in a hotel lobby with a glass of prosecco, or of course, to rest ones’-tired legs in home in the living room after spending a long day in town.”

The Corso easy chair started as a play with lines in the sketchbook of designer, Peter Andersson: “The two-dimensional lines in the sketchbook, which intuitively just felt so obvious, have been translated into a cohesive loop of steel tubing” Peter Andersson explains. After being approached by Lammhults about producing the design, the result is a piece of furniture with expressive character, but at the same time minimal in its construction and design.

The design is available in black or natural colour options for canvas or leather upholstery as standard, and steel available as powder coated of chromium plated. The simplicity of the design is also reflected through its resource-efficient construction. The frame gives the easy chair a soft, resilient effect both through its shape and construction, whilst the design also utilizes a minimal amount of upholstery, without compromising on comfort. The design also uses natural, durable materials to prolong the product lifecycle, and like other Lammhults’ pieces, is easily taken apart for replacement or recycling.

Trioo Chair Series by Johannes Foersom & Peter Hiort-Lorenzen Trioo designed by Danish-duo Johannes Foersom & Peter Hiort-Lorenzen is comprised of one chair concept in three different designs, all featuring the Lammhults specialist design touches of steel tubular legs and moulded veneer.

Inspired to create a design that fits varying ergonomic needs, the idea of Trioo was to create “one” chair but with three different characters. Johannes Foersom & Peter Hiort-Lorenzen wanted to bring excitement to interiors with Trioo’s many variations and options – allowing the design to fit in many different contexts – from restaurants, offices and libraries, to the dining room or living space in a home. The design consists of one frame, one seat and three different backs that create the components needed to give the chair three different functions and expressions.

Johannes Foersom & Peter Hiort-Lorenzen were also inspired by the form and colours of oyster shells when creating the back piece of Trioo – notably their cosy, enclosing shape to create a high level of comfort and support. All three variants provide support to the body, whether it is the back, arms or elbow, at rest or in motion, and with its rounded shapes without any sharp edges, users can sit comfortably composed in the chair.

As previous collaborators with Lammhults, Johannes Foersom & Peter Hiort-Lorenzen were inspired by the company’s design philosophy when creating Trioo – working to make a natural and uncomplicated form. They also wanted to exhibit the warmth and softness of wood as a material, using a transparent finish on the design that allows the structure of the material to shine through. Simple Scandinavian materials with low energy consumption in mind were specifically used to create Trioo, and like with the other new launches from Lammhults, were designed with high-quality materials to prolong the lifecycle, and to be easily disassembled, replaced or recycled with circularity in mind.

The chair seat and back are available in moulded veneer in natural ash or oak and in stained ash. Stains available are white, graphite, black and mole (beige/grey). The seat is also available upholstered in fabric or leather. As
