Basquiat, Baldessari, Murillo & Ed Ruscha
Treat yourself to something special this Christmas season. Art has long been regarded as an hedge against inflation. Why not add a stunning work by a blue-chip artist to your collection this year?
Widely known as one of the most important artists of the 20th century, this is your chance to join the small circle of collectors owning one of his iconic artworks
Ed Ruscha has been a driving force of the international art world since the 1960s and has seen his works linked to not just one, but two important movements: Pop Art & the beat generation.
In the mid-1980s, Baldessari started one of his best-known practices. A series where he "put dots over peoples faces", a technique he suspected, he would be remembered for. "Equestrian (Flesh) in Brackets with Orange Showdown" from 1992 is a well-known example from this series. Being asked, how he came up with the idea, Baldessari replied: "I just had these price stickers I was using for something else, in some graphic way and I put them on all the faces and I just felt like it leveled the playing field."
Oscar Murillo is a Colombian artist, recipient of the 2019 Turner Prize and participant of the 56th Venice Biennale (2015). Born in La Paila, Colombia, in 1986, Murillo moved to London with his parents when he was 10 years old and spoke no English, an experience he described as “confusing". His mixed-media paintings often involve work taken from the peripheries of his studio where they gather dirt, dust and fluid stains. Murillo has had solo and group shows at Haus der Kunst, Jeu de Paume, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), The Borad, Whitechapel Gallery and Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). He has participated in the Vennice Biennale, the Berlin Biennale, the Biennale of Sydney, the Sharjah Biennial, Performa and the Marrakech Biennale.
